Joint Pain Treatments

Relieve Pain. Restore Function.

Pain in your knee, shoulder, hip, or other joints slowing you down?
Let our experienced physicians help.

Joint Pain Causes

There are many causes of joint pain. Besides issues with the joint itself, tendons, ligaments, and bursitis may contribute to the pain. Unfortunately, joint pain is very common. Knee pain occurs most frequently, followed by shoulder pain and hip pain.

When pain continues after initial at-home treatments such as rest, ice, compression, and elevation, it is important to determine the cause of the pain.

Joint Pain Treatment

Our primary goal for joint pain patients is to decrease pain and inflammation and restore proper function of the joint. In doing so, we may coordinate or perform the following treatments:

  • Injections into the joint with a combination of local anesthetic and steroids, synthetic joint fluid, platelet-rich plasma, and/or stem cells.
  • Over the counter pain medications such as acetaminophen, naproxen, ibuprofen, or aspirin.
  • Topical therapies such as methyl salicylate (Bengay), capsaicin, lidocaine, or nonsteroidals.
  • Physical therapy to improve range of motion and stabalize the joint.
